Why
is Beadnell Bay a haven for windsurfers? Pictured here are Tony
Champion and Ray Robson from the 'Northumbrian Windsurfers Club',
just two of the many regular visitors to the bay.
Tony,
who lives just south of Alnwick is an experienced windsurfer having
taken up the sport over 15 years ago. He has been surfing at Beadnell
for a lot of that time he says: " Beadnell is an excellent
venue for our sport. The car park is spacious and provides easy
access to the beach so you do not have far to carry your equipment.
The sea is usually quite flat and the bay has predominantly 'westerly
winds' which makes it easy to reach the harbour should you get into
difficulties. On top of all that it's just a beautiful beach with
wonderfull views and is never crowded no matter what time of year
you decide to use it".
You
can find more information about windsurfing at Beadnell (including
hiring boards and lessons) on the 'Outdoor
Trust' pages.
